Italian travel has to be one of the most enjoyable around. There is really something to appeal to everyone. Even the crankiest of travelers is sure to find something they like here.

For history buffs, the country can't be beat. If the ancient Roman Empire isn't impressive enough, you have the intricate church history of the Middle Ages, followed by the intellectual and artistic history of the Renaissance. You could focus on just one aspect of history or combine them and come up with many different tours.

It couldn't be easier to set up a tour of art in Italy. This could be combined with an architectural tour as well. With the impressive palaces and churches, there are many buildings not to be missed, especially in Florence, Venice and Rome.

Music lovers also have plenty to occupy them. Choose from operas, classical music or religious chanting and hymns. The opportunities are practically endless. And many of those performances will be housed in the timeless beauty of the Italian palazzos or in a lovely outdoor piazza.

For those people whose cultural tastes are not so refined, all is not lost. Probably one of the most enjoyable types of tours to take in Italy are those surrounding food and wine. Italian food is some of the most delicious and most varied in the world. Many people are only accustomed to the heavier Southern Italian food such as lasagna. The Northern Italian food features more delicate fare, somewhat more reminiscent of French cuisine.

The wines are also varied, as one would expect from a country known for them. White, red, dry or sweet, you can find something to appeal to your palate. Top your meal off with a scrumptious dessert and real espresso or cappuccino made like nowhere else in the world.

It's hard to imagine that anyone couldn't find something to appeal in Italian travel. With the history, culture, entertainment and gastronomy, it will be difficult to find your next country to travel to once you're back home.
